Have you ever hit a string of red lights when you’ve got somewhere to be? There’s a moment of surrender, praying for just one green light to break the monotony of consistent road blocks. It’s an analogy for life that can seem all too familiar for most of us. And yet the song “Green Light” points to a realization that many of those perceived barriers must be overcome in our own minds. Admittedly, when I wrote "Green Light” with Winnipeg producer Jonny Kirouac, I was pleading for some force outside myself to change my situation. However, as it happens with most of my music, when I look back on what I wrote and what I was dealing with, I understand how the first green light had to come from within me.
